![]() ![]() Our friends ordered spinach dip, and struggled through half of it after asking for jalapenos to get some flavor. Knowing I can get them for half that price just down the beach a-ways, I opted out of their succulent goodness. I did ask the price on their raw oysters, $18.99 a dozen. ![]() I also ordered "The Back Porch Baked Oysters," they were delicious, but at $15.99 for 6, ridiculously priced. She stated that her drink tasted like a kid's kool-aid, not bad, just not what one would expect for a $8 drink. Ice tea and some fancy named mixed drink for our couple friends. I had a Paradise Ale (a "local" brew, not sure who bottles it), not bad, not cheap (if it's more than $2, to me, that's not cheap). He came back pretty quickly and got our drink and appetizer orders. A server stopped by to state he'd be with us in a minute, pleasantly, although the guy seemed a bit erratic in his mannerisms, not nervous, just scattered. I took the latter and she stated 10-15 minutes, which surprised me since there were 30-40 people waiting around outside to be seated. I asked "How long for a party of 4?" She rattled off the options, inside, outside, or first available. They must train them to be rude half-wits during employee orientation. There were three girls behind the counter, one eventually looked up at me with an almost bothered facial expression of "what do you want?" No smile, no "Hello, welcome to our wonderful eating establishment," not even a "Can I help you?" Different girls, but no change from a year and a half ago. ![]() I walked up to the hostess desk and waited for someone to acknowledge me. Otherwise I wouldn't have stepped foot in the place. We visited last night with some friends who were from out of town and staying in Fort Walton Beach, Pier Park was a good midway point to meet, and The Back Porch was where they wanted to eat.
